Things You Should Have Before Applying InChina for Teaching Job

Get your passport and visa done

This is the first and foremost thing when you are going to abroad. You should have your passport and it is not only for China but also to get out in your own country too. Another requirement is the visa. Your passport should be from one of the below-mentioned countries. 

Canada, USA, Ireland, UK, New Zealand, Australia,andSouth Africa. If your passport is from one these places your chances are high.

Bachelor degree

When you are going to apply for a job in teaching English in China another important thing that you should have a bachelor degree. This is the major document that the applicant should have. You should make ready all of your documents before applying. Many applicants have diploma degree. They also can apply if they have a masters degree. Otherwise, a bachelor degree is needed. If you are masters in English that is plus point of yours. The Chinese government has made a rule that the English teachers who are educating the students in China should have at least a bachelor degree. In the USA it is 4 years but in the UK it is only 3 years.

Two years of work experience

This is another criteria to apply for a job in China. The country always prefers a teacher with previous work experience. Before jump into the class, they will check your work details. Though many schools and colleges accept less experience also. Depends from city to city.


Native English speaker

China gives preference to those applicants whose mother tongue is English or they are a native English speaker. As because the parents and the students demand this more. If you have a good English background and have good work experience then getting the job is not tough for you, but if your accent is thick or if you are not a good speaker then it will be difficult for you to get the job instead of having certificates.

TEFL certificate

This is a certificate which will allow you to teach the English language in a foreign country. Before applying you should get some certificates that will be helpful in your field of job. A certificate like DELTA, ESL, CETLA, TESOL. These certificates will give you an extra benefit. All the above-mentioned requirements are must if you are planning for a teaching career in China.
